@kevinteljeur I'm reading a history of the Plantagents. Several lineages have held the Lancaster title. As far as I can tell they all seem to have gotten really wealthy, then started civil wars. That's before the House of Lancaster and Wars of the Roses.
And that crest has the Fleur de Lys because King Edward decided he was the king of France.

@ronanmcd It’s sort of unsurprising that a democracy (even if notionally) which has so many moving parts, some vestigial, runs into so much trouble.
