We don’t use the dead bird site any more. I’d love us to ditch Meta but I do understand the dilemma when local community pages are all on fb so that reach is irreplaceable

I feel as if I could devise a use case: here are the managed service providers (and cost), here is the potential reach, etc I could put a good case to them.That said there's nothing stopping me actually doing that, so I'll get started on it this weekend then reach out to my local party.

@Sarahw ah, thank you, that’s interesting. They must have decided against it (like 10,000s of others who joined and gave up). Maybe there should be a new mastodon drive one of these days. Some of the off-putting functionality issues have been addressed by now, though by no means all.

It's such a shame when people don't stick with it.
I understand there isn't the reach of other social media but that doesn't mean the message doesn't get through.
People are just so accustomed to an algorithm it feels like they're speaking into a void here. -

I will work on it locally but is there any way to take it to the top somehow? Can we get together on here to write an email? Any suggestions welcome. #UKpolitics

Yes, thank you! Learned that this morning! Brilliant. Others have also pointed me to @greenpartyni and @WestNorthantsGreens - i hadn’t realised. Will see what we can do locally (in #Eastbourne). And also what can be done to establish Mastodon more in #GreenParty as a whole. Though aware that v clearly not the first to come up with this idea.

I messaged Zack via BlueSky yesterday saying he needs to be on here properly and also suggested that maybe Green Party should run their own instance. Would show proper commitment. -
