    πŸ”” Breaking News πŸ””

The FSFE has been granted permission to intervene at the EU Court of Justice for the second time β€” in case T-359/25, Apple v. European Commission β€” in support of the @EUCommission
One more time, we are the only charitable civil organization defending #FreeSoftware and #Interoperability at the court. πŸ’ͺ

This case focuses on Apple's obligations under Article 6(7) of the #DMA. Specifically how Apple must open up software & hardware interoperability on its smartphones and tablets.

The EU Court explicitly recognised this case will likely have "a significant impact on the supply of #FreeSoftware." πŸ’‘

@fsfe Apple v. European Commission is like Devil v. Lucifer.

The EU Commission are the folks who want to bring us total surveillance state and more.

While I will always root against the EU and the EU Commission, fuck Apple.

The FSFE will now prepare and submit its statement of intervention, presenting arguments on #Interoperability, #SoftwareFreedom, and the real-world impact of the #DMA on developers and users.

@haui @fsfe that's a myopic view. The EC is a body of government, the commissioners are nominated by elected national governments, so there is a civic process for change. If you don't like what they do, get politically active, write to the commissioners and your government. No chance of that helping with a corporation.

When is the @EUCommission going to take similar action against Google for their new developer verification policy on Android - https://keepandroidopen.org/

This will essentially kill off alternative app distributors like @fdroidorg and establish Google as the sole arbiter who can approve or reject any app they want without any accountability.

                  @pkraus
Its not. The european commission is not an elected body and the european parlament can not bring up their own laws. It is fundamentally undemocratic and has been a net negative for eu member states that are not named germany.

Writing letters is also not a way to direct people you pay with your taxes.

There should be a democratic process that involves all eu citizens both on the individuals in the body and all laws passed.

Where does your assumption come from? Have you tried to listen before you speak?

There are millions of people on here. They will see you if you show whats special about you, not some generic one size fits all.

Where do you come from? What are your hobbies? What do or dont you like? Follow people that do what you like and show that you do what they do.

You might also wanna take a look at Google's new changes to their reCaptcha service - https://cybersecuritynews.com/google-recaptcha-update/

This new reCaptcha system will kill all alternative mobile operating systems except Android and iOS, by making it impossible to solve reCaptcha without their OS. If this isn't an antitrust practice then I don't know what is.
