When I run scripts that might have permanent outcomes:
      1. I triple-check them.
      2. I run them in "show me what would happen if I ran this" mode beforehand.
      3. I make the operation a "move" rather than a delete.

      And that's for deterministic tools.

They're running stochastic tools in production.

"Oh I tested it on a toy inbox." she said in the replies.

You rolled a die on a toy inbox, then rolled it again on another inbox. Surprise, the results were different.

      The stupidity is staggering.

This is the future. People using tools they don't understand, to make or do things that they can't comprehend.

It's the hospital scene from Idiocracy, but for programming.

And now universities themselves are encouraging it with Vibe Coding courses like this:

@ludd not only coding, last week it was kinda loud when AI diploma won "best diploma this year" contest on one of the biggest art universities out there.

Yet nobody, alongside it's creator seems to understand what is this diploma about.

@jackemled @ludd amazingly the toot is still true if you just substitute Telegram with Whatsapp.

@skyglobe @ludd I'm pretty sure WhatsApp actually has proper encryption by default, so no, even if it does leak significant amounts of data to Facebook for sale.
