@stefano @justine For the uninitiated and about to install Proxmox… is there a reason behind the move?

@outofcontrol @justine if you have time, I've explained why here (there's a part on a migration from Proxmox to FreeBSD): https://it-notes.dragas.net/2024/10/03/i-solve-problems-eurobsdcon/

Also, but it's not primary: https://it-notes.dragas.net/2024/06/10/proxmox-vs-freebsd-which-virtualization-host-performs-better/

@stefano I went through your EuroBSDcon post. Thanks for writing up these resources!
Of course BSD is more stable, secure, and efficient. It makes imminent sense as a base layer for infrastructure or even desktop.
What's the equivalent of Proxmox on BSD for web-based provisioning/configuration of jails/VMs? I''m considering this migration myself.

@argv Web based, on FreeBSD? I'd say Sylve, but it's not as mature as Proxmox. Yet it's usable and already has a lot of nice features.

I'd use it in my homelab, probably not in prod (yet)

I still prefer, when possible, the "good old" vm-bhyve and BastilleBSD. Just a sh script, able to manage the entire lifecycle of the VM or jails. No overhead at all.
