Being assertive does NOT come naturally! My inclination is to placate. Which diffuses tension in the short term, but only pushes off the inevitable.

@rubenerd Experience taught me that it’s important to set boundaries as soon as possible, in a calm and positive way. The entire relations (personal, professional, etc) will benefit from it. It may seem hard - it is! - but it’s much, much better than having to push things too far and revert the trend.

@stefano @rubenerd Plus, if someone tries to get around your boundary anyway, you can later be firmer and refer back to when you made your boundaries clear.

I’ve had to do this a couple of times, when someone had a particular bad memory of what we agreed on.

@stefano Thanks Stefano <3. It's hard, but worth it.

(Also I loved your recent post about your new microwave oven! You have a beautiful way with words).

@rubenerd Thank you. Life flows, we gather experiences and, sometimes, there's the urge to put those feelings in words.
When I was younger, I used to do it using music. But I wasn't that great, so I stopped. Now, I'm not great with words, too, but at least I try 🙂
