And we have a working desktop! Next steps, restore files from backup and configure everything. So far, so good.

@pauliehedron so far, so good: worked out of the box, and am now restoring my backup with ~50-90 Mbps from Hetzner (according to the router, that is).

@kedara Please kind person, tell me wifi card (or laptop platform) and version of freebsd???
As you can probably tell, it's of interest, and a windmill I've been chasing for a while.

@pauliehedron it's a "ThinkPad T14 Gen 2i 20W0004DMH" with "Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6E(802.11ax) AX210/AX1675* 2x2 [Typhoon Peak]" wifi. Freebsd 15. Hope it helps, did you have wifi troubles in the past?

@marios I went with the safe and comfy combo of xfce, xddm and x11. I theme it a bit and it looks great and has a great performance as well.

@daj thanks, I'll try to write something after I've set everything up again. I'm liking it so far.

@kedara nice! I myself am also a fan of xfce and lxde depending on my mood.
