            @MuseumJoe
            And this isn't even the steepest street in San Francisco. There are at least half a dozen I can think of which are steeper.

            @BobHorowitz @MuseumJoe I was looking at a list of em just yesterday and seeing which ones I’d been to. Seven out of 10, Ripley included. 👍🏻

              @midendian
              Yeah. Even without the amusing camera tilt, Ripley Street falls into the "believe it or not" category.

              It's like someone said "Oh let's put some housing up here so when people park their cars out front they can open up the door and tumble down the road at high velocity."

              @BobHorowitz @midendian Something tells me this has to be somewhere where the temperature doesn't regularly go below the freezing point...

                @leatherstotheeditor
                Correct.

                We get hail occasionally but, per Google, the last time the temperature in downtown San Francisco officially dropped below 32°F was on December 11, 1932. And the last time measurable snow fell in San Francisco was February 5, 1976, when 1 to 2 inches blanketed the city.

                Being on a peninsula, surrounded by water on 3 sides, with cool ocean temps, means we rarely get very hot or very cold.

                @midendian

                  @BobHorowitz I think that sometimes, under certain weather conditions in the morning, car owners go to their cars, which are parked at the very bottom of the street

                      @BobHorowitz Believe it or not, I didn’t know the context — so thank you for introducing me to Robert Ripley and the whole “Believe It or Not!” universe 😉

                        You're welcome!
                        Ripley's is an American cultural institution... a carnival side-show of historical oddities and trivia.
