@k @Liberapay Finally, a website that doesn't make me want to vomit from all the soulless 'hip' corporate art!

@Kroc @Liberapay tbh liberapay has looked about the same since 2016(?) And i REALLY hope it stays that way

And the award for the world's most generic [placeholder] cover art goes to:
#worldglass #writing #writersofmastodon #writingcommunity #ebook #ebooks

Go get it! I could faint from how straining it was taking this from plain-text files to an #ebook / PDF that looks half-way decent!
https://camendesign.com/nomad—edit: forgot to say, if you’ve been reading the Mastodon posts, the ebook contains a whole new chapter that hasn’t been published here!
(I'll make a more formal toot in a moment to serve as a permanent pin. This one is for the followers)

@Kroc That form factor is a local maximum in mobile system design.
-
@Kroc nice. I used one of those and a prototype GPS board to navigate all the way down to the South of France and back. I had some funny looks when people saw a 14" x 10" PCB on the dashboard!

@Kroc wow what is that device

Sneak peak. #worldglass #writing #psion
@Kroc@oldbytes.space Ooh, this takes me back, and not in the expected way. My previous employer did screen repairs on these things and sold self-repair flex kits. I had never heard of them before that; very interesting to get a tiny peek into an older tech I missed out on.

@Kroc Still a design and functionality classic.

@Kroc Hi Kroc, thanks for your writing - enjoyed Nomad so far, it’s an interesting concept you’re developing, I look forward to the rest of the story! It’s great that you’re using proper distraction-free tools; I miss my Psion 3c. The epub was fine on iOS, and I also ran it through a narrator app to listen to it while walking.

@M0CUV THANK YOU. I haven't had much confirmation that people are actually reading it, lol. I hadn't thought about TTS before, what app is it you're using?

@Kroc I saw what you were doing, and (being a bit busy) didn’t read the ongoing posts of content, anticipating a more complete version. I started reading the preview epub in the iOS Books app, which rendered it fine (your effort on format conversion paid off) - but most of my non-technical reading gets done when walking my dog so I fed the preview into Éist (non-subscription) - it’s imperfect in some places, but I think that’s its fault, not your epub’s. TTS is hugely imperfect.

@Kroc
I wanted one of those, couldn't afford it though.
Try to find one now

@Kroc Every time I see one of these I truly wish I'd ever been able to have one. These days I need something more modern, but I would have killed to have had one of these back in the day...

@nazokiyoubinbou @Kroc I actually used one in my last two years of university. Before I was using an Apple Newton, but this was quite a pain at an unpleasant place.
The battery was holding up for ages, the keyboard was practical and I was writing a lot of homework, papers etc. on it. Definitely a milestone in computer history! -
