    Umm… say what now???

    🚨🚨🚨

The agreement the #DOJ made with #Trump to settle his lawsuit against the #IRS includes a provision BARRING the agency from pursuing #tax claims against Trump, his family or his businesses. The new provision was released a day after DOJ agreed to settle Trump’s lawsuit by creating a $1.8 billion compensation fund for people *he believes* were wronged by federal investigations or prosecutions.

@Nonilex This can’t possibly be legal. I mean, at least not in the quaint, old-fashioned meaning of the term *legal*.

It is unclear if that examination has concluded or if #Trump, his family members or affiliated entities are under other audits. #IRS procedures call for the mandatory audit of the president’s tax returns annually.

‼️FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS the president, vice president & other executive officers from instructing the IRS to start or stop specific audits. But that broad prohibition does appear to include a carve out for the attorney general.‼️

US government agrees to drop tax claims against Trump in broadening of IRS lawsuit settlement

The U.S. government has agreed to permanently drop tax claims against President Donald Trump, according to a settlement document that is part of a deal to resolve Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service over the leak of his tax returns.

Neither the #DOJ nor the IRS responded to requests seeking comment. The top lawyer at the #Treasury, Brian Morrissey, resigned on Monday after the DOJ announced the settlement with #Trump.

DOJ officials have in part defended the creation of the “anti-weaponization” fund by pointing to the fact that Trump & his family members will not be paid by it.

But protection from audit would be hella remunerative for Trump. In 2024, NYT reported that a loss in an IRS audit could cost Trump >$100 million.

@Nonilex next administration should start an audit of the Trumps, and if/when they sue then litigate that the “settlement” was illegal and void. Then persue all the insurrectionists and grifters having been given taxpayers’ stolen money.

There's a reason Parker Brothers included a "get out of jail free" card in Monopoly.

They knew Trump types would make full use of them.

@Nonilex How about the other people who had their information exposed by a contractor that the IRS hired under the former grifter in chief. And who’s going to sue said Contractor? Come on people if your information was released you all need to file a lawsuit.
I’m not sure how I find out if my information was released, but I’m certainly going to check on it. ALL 405,000 of you! The least you can do is apply for cash out of #TrumpsSlushFund #uspol #GrifterInChief

@Nonilex I saw this one earlier and it sums it up really nice: If you elect a clown, do not be surprised when you are governed by a circus.

Better: if you elect a violent criminal don’t be surprised when you get violated

Non-stop corruption. Once this is done, the whole weight of the law has to come down on him and his family.

@Nonilex I see a lawsuit in the future that Trump and his family won't be able to stop

                                        This is a FOREVER thing!

As part of the #settlement agreement, the #US is “forever barred & precluded” from examining or prosecuting #Trump, his sons & the #TrumpOrganization’s current #tax issues, according to the one-page document posted to the #DOJ’s website on Tuesday.

                                        @Nonilex

We now have a transaction that is corrupt self-dealing simply unheard of in United States history:

                                        Nonilex -- @Nonilex

                                        "This is a FOREVER thing!

                                        "forever barred"

This is not "get out of jail free"

It's nothing less than "continue your corruption for as much as you can steal, for as long as you can continue stealing it"

Is there simply no way to control, to rein-in such obvious Trump Family corruption?

[This is effing nuts. We KNOW #Trump cheated on his #taxes. Just look at the NY v #TrumpOrganization lawsuit where he was found liable for decades of #fraud.]

In a one-page document signed by acting AG #ToddBlanche & quietly posted on the #DOJ website, officials vowed not to pursue any matters, including those involving Trump’s tax returns, that are currently pending.

This can be reversed if we ever agin have a DOJ that follows the law.
