    ICYMI: "Parents must realize that refusing vaccinations doesn’t just put your own child at risk. It puts other children at risk. I don’t know where Renae picked up measles. It’s one of the most contagious viruses that exists, and it could have been from anywhere.

    That’s why herd immunity is so important."

      @bich Measles is not only a disease of children.

      I got measles as an adult. It was the worst I've ever felt - I gave up caring whether I lived or died, I just wanted it to end.

      I seriously resent - and reject - the claim that others have the right to put their children and innocent third parties (such as myself) at risk of being infected with - and perhaps killed by - preventable diseases.

      To my mind anti-vaxers are committing a form of should-be criminal assault and battery.

      Moreover, I do not believe that parents should have the unfettered, almost plenary power to make decisions against their children's interest in having a healthy life.

        @bich Parents who refuse vaccinations clearly don't give a shit about their own children, so it would be expecting a bit much to think that they might care about anybody else's children.

          @karlauerbach @bich

          It’s a little incredible that somebody like Mitch McConnell, who still suffers the consequence of childhood polio is not the loudest proponent of vaccination.

          I mean where the fuck is this guy that he says nothing?
