@Cyclist @HarriettMB @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 Of course it did. Would go against Radio 4 policy to challenge a Reform person for talking bollocks.

@statsguy @HarriettMB @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 GB News initially tried to report the statement as coming from the Electoral Commission and then spun the stats to say that 12% of votes had been affected. 32 not being 12% of 545 and 12% of the observed vote not being the same as the whole vote, this is ridiculous and worrying. The standard of what passes for reporting on GB News should be censured.

@JustinMac84 @HarriettMB @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 True, but at least we all know that GB News is a bollocks-spouting machine, so we can happily ignore anything they say.

@HarriettMB @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 The whole family voting thing is very weird. Apparently it was raised by "independent" election observers (I have no idea how independent they actually are), but they didn't raise it until it was too late to do anything about it.

They could absolutely have raised it with the election officials at the time, and the fact that they didn't just smells a bit off.

I'm pretty sure if my husband accompanied me into the voting booth, the officials there would have something to say about it

@ASprinkleofSage @HarriettMB @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 They were also complaining that the Greens published election leaflets in Urdu. The subtext there is clearly that they don't think Urdu speakers should be allowed to vote.

@statsguy @ASprinkleofSage @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 Didn’t Andrea Jenkyns of #ReformLtd announce a couple of days ago, that she is cancelling all English language classes for foreign people in the constituency of which she is Mayor. Instead she’s putting the funding into something else.

@HarriettMB @ASprinkleofSage @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 Probably consistency has never been the far right's strong suit.

In fact I believe the inconsistency is a feature, not a bug. Once people sign up to it it becomes harder to leave the cult.

whole thing is paranoia and anger not only because Desi folk dared to turn up to vote, but they are likely speaking in their own languages which they are perfectly entitled to do, so these "observers" assume family members talking to one another are being directed to vote by the eldest male

I'm also pretty sure that the physical design of modern electoral booths in the UK prevents any obvious attempt to see who someone else is voting for and/or influence them

@statsguy @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 It started last night when Goodwin talked about ‘family voting’. #Farage has continued it today with (unsubstantiated) accusations of cheating. He needs to be forced to produce his evidence, or sued for slander.

@HarriettMB @statsguy @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 Slander's too weak. I think baseless allegations of election fraud should be considered a "corrupt practice" under the Representation of the People Act 1983 section 114A (4) (g) "doing any act designed to deceive a person in relation to the administration of an election" which is punishable by imprisonment for up to two years, an unlimited fine and presumably opens the door to a recall petition.

@mjr @HarriettMB @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 I wish I knew more about "Democracy Volunteers". Maybe they really did see significant election fraud and were just too incompetent to do anything about it when it would have made a difference, or maybe they are not acting in good faith. I don't know. But it certainly seems weird at the very least.

She's moving it to English Language classes 'for everyone', which is clearly targeted at her unemployable voters, so she can remove their benefits when she forces them out of the doctor's waiting room waiting for a sick note, to get a job.

@MAJ1 I've just worked out the Green Party got just less than 20% of the total possible votes. Not that impressive, but highlights just how bad everyone else did.

@kibcol1049 Yeah but given voter apathy …

Ultimately they won & now we see how she does in Westminster,

I'm pretty sure if my husband accompanied me into the voting booth, the officials there would have something to say about it
