If you know someone who's an author, especially if they're older, maybe wrote non-fiction, aren't necessarily plugged in, may have moved addresses, maybe is deceased and has heirs who could make claims...

WHO I THINK MIGHT STILL NEED TO FILE CLAIMS
—older authors
—both fiction and non-fiction, esp academic writers
—maybe published through a small defunct press
—maybe their works were written long ago
—aren't necessarily plugged in/haven't heard of the lawsuit
—may have moved addresses since registering copyright
—maybe are deceased and have heirs who could make claimsI hope it's just that folks haven't gotten around to filing yet! But please reach out to your author friends (or their heirs!).

@susankayequinn Oh, thanks for the tip! I wrote a book once (non fiction), and I'd already searched the database and found my book isn't in it.
I hadn't thought of looking up the books my late father wrote. Just checked. They're not in the database either, but at least I have checked now.

@statsguy I'm glad you checked! That's exactly the kind of case I think may be slipping through the cracks.

@susankayequinn @statsguy There's a book by an author with the same penname as me that for years I've seen popping up when I search and even sometimes gets included in my author profile on sites. And it is also in the the works list. So now I'm hoping that my fellow Becky Black (and her co-writer) gets a payout for the theft of her vegan cookbook.

@beecycling ha! that's funny and awesome, can you let them know? @statsguy

@susankayequinn @statsguy I've never had any contact with them, and that is the only book by them. But the co-author seems to still be actively writing, so maybe she'll get it sorted out.

@eowyn if you're in the Works database, you can file a claim; if you're not, you can't. It's very simple to search. I encourage everyone to try: https://www.anthropiccopyrightsettlement.com/
