      Checked last night’s trail cam footage. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry 😭.

      Cuteness overload but how will I ever grow any veg 😭. I think I’ll go for sheer quantity and hope for the best. Though maybe I’ll get stuck in a bunny doom loop - the more I grow the more bunnies there are. They are so lovely to watch though. They were playing around outside the greenhouse as I pricked out rainbow chard seedlings. Sigh.

      These are smaller even than lil bun.

      @helenclayton awwww. (My parents have a related issue with deer. This photo was taken a few blocks from their thoroughly urban, though small city, house. So beautiful, but no geranium or tulip ever survives a day past blooming. At least my parents are no longer trying to grow veg.)

          @aroundthehills I think the raised beds are safe enough. They’re quite a good height. The rest is fair game though. I might try chicken wire but they’ll probably dig underneath.

            @suearcher just don’t call me Mr McGregor! Do you think a scarecrow will work? *asks in desperation*

            I can't say I hope out much hope... I've never had to deal with rabbits as a garden pest.

              @aroundthehills it’s not like we don’t live next to an organic veg farm or anything that might tempt them more 🤔

                @suearcher I know what my dad would have done but I’ll resort to non lethal means. In other words, buy my veg from elsewhere 😭

                  @helenclayton

                  I'm afraid the only non-direct-lethal solution is to encourage predators, and even then, nature says there will always be more rabbits...

                    @aroundthehills no, it’s just open fields and polytunnels. They did find a nest in a polytunnel recently and released them into the woods, though the cat had one. Another cat was sniffing around this nest last night.

                      @suearcher the feral cat has already found the burrow. Oh god, I hope I don’t witness a murder on camera.

                        I was saying to @suearcher the other day, that we should grow sacrificial tasty lettuce just to tempt rabbits and similar away from the veg we want to eat.
