    @StaceyCornelius Josh Johnson and the guy who hosts the daily show podcast chatted about that and about how April Fools is just fraught now. TBH I tend to think of April fools as being quite nasty, mean spirited. But my fave pranks: an Aussie radio show asked ppl to cut a bit of their lawn & leave it out the front for collection to take to the Antarctic to create a footy field; Princess Di’s very public super weird birthing event so weird that I thought WTF until I remembered it was April Fools

        @StaceyCornelius I’ve ignored April Fools Day since 2016 when we were hit with the worst April Fools joke in recent history.

          @StaceyCornelius The line is so blurred between satire and reality, that it would’ve too easy to believe something.

            @DarkMatterZine The one prank I really enjoy has been going on for years, on the CBC Radio show As It Happens.

            They always have one fake story on April 1. Their writers are fantastic, so it's extra fun trying to figure out which one is the prank story.

            One year it was the announcement of a $3 coin. Some listeners fell for it. There were irate emails.

            I dislike mean-spirited pranks, but the patchwork footy field is pretty fun.

              @StaceyCornelius My blog has a very tame, traditional prank that I do every year. Not going to stop now because of some old men's whims, not even indirectly.

                  @StaceyCornelius There's no April Fool's stranger than everyday's news. Real and fake, of course.
                  Maybe someone should inform me when we're *out* of an April Fool's.

                    @StaceyCornelius @quoidian a german satirical paper has the tradition to only produce real news stories on 1st of April. And it's so amazingly good.

                              @StaceyCornelius Count me in. I'm not a fan of pranks anyway, and never pull them. There's something in pranks that is meant to elevate the prankster at the expense of the victim's sense of safety and well-being. Anytime I've been on the receiving end of a prank, I've gotten the distinct message that the prankster wanted me to feel small.

                                          Someone suggested not pulling any April Fool's pranks this year and I think we all need to get on board with that.

                                          Because, you know, all this.

                                          @StaceyCornelius Allowable pranks are exclusively:

                                          - Sending a photo of the dog in the driver's seat and pranking them that Fido took your keys for a roadtrip

                                          - Pretending a cardboard box is haunted but actually there's a cat inside

                                          - olden style food that looks like a different food but is still delicious

                                          - heading to work/school/etc but you turn a different way en route. when they say 'hey, this is the wrong way' you reveal you're all got the day off for something delightful instead
