On the plus side with Iran, Russia and to some degree Venezuela now all being basically at war maybe countries around the world will decide that a fossil fuel dependence is not just bad climate policy, but also bad for sovereignty?

@Techaltar I mean, it is basically a way to secure the price of oil, for US oil companies. The US have also been shutting down refineries for Canadian heavy crude, IIRC.
This is basically like the consolidation of cigarette companies, after it was clear what the health effects were and they started getting regulated. Oil will keep going up in price, enough to increase profits, while selling less. Many countries will migrate, just because it's too expensive to rely on oil.

Yes, but also, oil prices will skyrocket which means Russia will earn more money that will go straight to bombing children’s hospitals in Ukraine.
I doubt Putin allies like Orban will phase out Russian oil, and I also don’t think China will stop as it already has a discount and is already busy trying to switch to fossil fuels.
So yeah, you won’t be surprised to know that war has no winners…

@Techaltar it is like saying getting pedo in chief elected a second time will make democratic party become a left wing alternative to gop... More likely outcome is if you don't buy oil at whatever price we want to sell you, we will bomb you or blockade you or whatever... Of course this isn't about the west, it's de facto leader is doing all of this, only nations who aren't part of the club or don't have the means to protect itself (i.e nukes) are the ones who will have to fall in line.
