    So here’s the thing about killing Khamenei — he’s just a fucking guy. Let’s reverse this. If Iran smoked Trump, would the racist, sexist, religious nuttery in the US end? Fuck no.

    @mcnado@mstdn.social he’s a nearly 90 year old dude who has been preparing for martyrdom for his entire political career. He’s also the main reason Iran has not assembled a nuclear weapon. Damn this Epstein War was a great idea, really well thought out with plans and goals and everything.

      @mcnado
      @briankrebs
      Once again, he's no history student.
      The crusades circa 1095-1290 brought two centuries of bloodshed and no change.
      This will be no different.

          @mcnado He is an 89 year old guy who was out the door anyway because he could kick the bucket any day now. So they already know who will suceed him, just like if Iran smoked Trump, Vance would be the President. Countries already know those things.

          @praetor @mcnado

          I used to see Khameni on telly when I was a small boy - there was some war in Iran and the petrol went up in price over here, I remember Dad complaining about that as he had got his first car, this was in *1978*.

          In the same way that if anything were to happen to Trump or Putin (even through natural causes) someone younger and angrier would take over, the same is likely to happen in Iran..

            @vfrmedia @mcnado my beloved high school Comp sci teacher was Iranian. Very dear person to me. And he came from a rich Persian family who were loyal to the Shah. And when we, yet again meddled, he fled. And ended up in Evanston, Wyoming so that the Ayatollah would not find him. He looks like a sweet little old man, but he's fucking RUTHLESS. And Dr. Nemat was terrified. So I'm certain that is going to be a hard regime to topple.

              @praetor @mcnado we've had about 10-20 years without any real Islamist terrorism in the UK / Europe (maybe a few occasional attacks which have been dealt with quickly, without too many casualties).

              I can't guarantee that things will stay this way, and even a rise in petrol prices and an economic recession is likely to destabilise a lot of European countries (there were race riots in UK by the early 1980s, and a much higher level of crime and casual violence)

                @vfrmedia @mcnado we haven't had any terrorist attacks here in many years. After 9/11 we're just an outrageously paranoid culture that keeps giving up our rights for security. And with the current immigration bullshit, this could get very ugly inside our borders but also invite another 9/11 from outside our borders. Which I think Trump wants. Trump cares about Trump. He doesn't fucking care about us or the Iranians or even Israel. He cares about Trump.

                      @thefwguy He's a Russian asset but he never knew that. He was chosen because of his pride and ignorance but also because whoever made this all happen knew exactly what kind of damage he would cause. He's an unusually despicable person and that should never be ignored.

                        @Gustodon I'm not condoning him, I'm not underestimate what a stupid can do at that level nor what "personally" does, but he's too stupid and ignorant to set up this level of distraction/destruction.
                        All of this is clearly planned carefully.
                        I see other people, more in the shadow, that really tell him what to do.
                        This why they are using him as long as possible but once he'll be gone, the game will continue.
