    Please also explain how the #FirstAmendment permits the federal government to dictate the #Scouting curriculum of a non-profit organization comprised of US residents and citizens.

      Does it seem like "A Scout is Obedient" is the only part of the Scout Law still in force at the #ScoutingAmerica national headquarters?

        @DanielMReck Because they agreed to it. It's standard contract law. If I sign away some of my rights under some specific circumstances, then that's binding. It's also a carrot-and-stick thing. The regime holds significant influence over SA through longtime carrots, which they now threaten to withhold (stick) if their demands aren't met. SA is free to see what happens if they don't comply, but they know it would mean loss of tuition and certain kinds of access.

          @DanielMReck 2/ This has a lot to do with SA's historically close relationship to the US military, especially as a feeder by pre-training young people for service.

          In a way, this goes back to SA's earliest roots, and it's hard to imagine how to disentangle that.
