So, distilling a lot of very smart people's analysis of where we stand today with the war in Iran.

So, distilling a lot of very smart people's analysis of where we stand today with the war in Iran. Drones give Iran the ability to strike pretty much anywhere in their region including the Strait of Hormuz. Drones can not be contained or effectively countered. This situation is causing havoc in world markets, which gives Iran leverage to force the US to end the war before suffering the political fallout from wrecking the world's economy.

@mastodonmigration Definitely doesn't bode well for "Drill baby drill".

@mastodonmigration Yeah that's my understanding too… they got very good drones (the ones they sell to Russia), they got a lot of them, and apparently they might have them scattered and hidden across a large mountainous area where it would take years to find all of them…

@mastodonmigration I thought that drones could be countered? Ukrain and Israel have been intercepting large numbers of drones. Iran shot down a US drone a couple of years ago didn't it, which sparked tension. Wouldn't things like Seawizz (sp) counter drones?

Kind of fascinating to consider this through the lens of the eternal back a forth between military offensive and defensive technologies, and the sociological and political implications of whichever is dominant at any given time.

Yes, in certain battlefield situations. Apparently not in the mideast currently.
