Don't know why the Tyee thinks this is rare/unusual/'little known'. Investor-State Dispute Settlements are common. Imo they are added to agreements because #WTO courts are too fair. They allow rich people to sue every taxpayer in a country, and win because they are rich, not because they have merit.

@Amgine The way I read it, Nikiforuk is saying the "little-known trade agreement" is the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, or CPTPP.
