@greg does wikimedia actually take hiring seriously or do they just do what every other company does and scan every application with an LLM and refuse everyone not named john smith?
because I have had no indication they even have the capability of responding to applicants after hiring decisions are made to tell them that they're not accepted, let alone consider anyone for a position, and after multiple attempts consider applying to wikimedia to be a massive waste of my time

I checked with our recruiting team and can confirm we don't use AI-based screening — it's a deliberate choice to avoid bias. Because of the volume of applicants, we aren't always able to respond to every application we don't move forward with, but we do take our hiring process seriously. Location and time zone are factors we consider, just so you're aware. (continued...)

If you apply, please don't hesitate to reach out — the recruiter on the role will review all applications and connect with candidates that are most closely aligned with our hiring needs.
