ID Verification Could Fix The Dead Internet
A plague of AI bots is devouring the Net like a swarm of programmatically generated locusts. And mandatory ID verification could be the only solution.

@lunduke It could fix the "Dead Internet" for the "big tech" sites, who are centralised and clearly don't have enough (or too much) moderation in some cases, but you mention nothing about competing offerings - for example here ("The Fediverse").
It sounds like the main site mastodon.social also suffers from not enough moderation (i don't really notice), but that's the beauty - you don't have to pick that one but get all the same features.
The goal of "The Fediverse" is to have thousands of smaller servers, each one catering to a rough topic area, location or user base etc.
It's easy to block people, create shared block lists for public consumption, or block entire servers from interacting with your home server.
If in the future your home server blocks or allows too much you don't like, you are free to move to another one you think will be better. This is not a perfect process, but it's far better than just sacking off twitter etc and losing contact with all your followers.
What do you think?
