@randahl @andre123 the most dangerous path is the one where he not only tries but succeeds, and the general populations just shrugs themselves into acquiescence. Then they will be in an absolute iron grip of fascists, from which they will not easily escape, and not through the rule of law.

Violence is abhorrent, but there are cases where it is better than the alternative.

    @rasmus91 @randahl

I get your point, but considering how many weapons are in the hands of common citizens in USA I fear that violence may really be massive. Sort of a civil war ?

On the other hand I really hope he loses, get back to Mar a Lago and stop destroying the world, the climate, the economics and whatever he happens to touch....

@randahl Something that could easily happen if he's not "destroyed" by the results....
If he loses badly he won't find anyone following him down wrong paths ?

          Washington goes full gangster mode:

Trump ensures a payout of 1.7 billion dollars to his army of thugs that attacked the Capitol on January 6.

Obviously the press wants to know why tax payers should fund payments to convicted criminals, but Trump replies that they had unfairly suffered jail time — you know… because they only attacked the Capitol for him.

The midterm elections really are the last chance for US voters to save democracy.

@andre123 @randahl yes, it would be a horrible situation.

i hope he loses and someone finds a way to prosecute the crap out of him. Make the rest of his orange existence a hell of legal battles.

I mean, unless he really repented of his ways and started doing good... But that just seems too naive to believe.

@rasmus91 @andre123 @randahl Don't despair. In real politics, you have to do the misdeed for it to count.

Personally I hope he lives till he's 120.

@randahl I'll be voting like my life depends on it, but I'm really worried that the Rs are going to do everything possible to disrupt the results. Even going as far as not seating Ds that win. In the end, I find it difficult to believe that the Rs will have gone this far and set this many precedents to just "let" the Ds win the next election. They won't allow it by any means necessary.

@andre123 @randahl the worse the results the more violent his tantrum will be. He’ll start arresting governors that let “fraudulent “ results stand. He still has power for two months after he loses and knows he will never get it back if he lets go.

It’s a combination of circumstances that led to this and I am guilty as well. For myself, if neither candidate appeals to me, I don’t vote and I imagine I am not alone. We didn’t choose the lesser of two evils(Kamala) because we didn’t think we had to, never in our lives did we think we would elect a convicted felon, sexual predator and insurrectionist. What we didn’t realize is that there are many stupid people in this country who would.

@randahl On the morning of 14 May 2026, the U.S. Office of Government Ethics quietly released a filing that detonated like a slow-motion bomb across Washington. One hundred and thirteen pages. A cumulative value estimated between USD 220 million and USD 750 million. And at the centre of it all: the name of the sitting President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

Obviously the press wants to know why tax payers should fund payments to convicted criminals, but Trump replies that they had unfairly suffered jail time — you know… because they only attacked the Capitol for him.

The midterm elections really are the last chance for US voters to save democracy.
