    Elodie is pretty sure no one here has been through this process (grc overseas route)?

    She started (again) the application process yesterday, having finally got all the docs certified etc, only to find that there is no longer a specific overseas route form on the gov website.

    She doesn’t know when this changed 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

    A search found a few references to the forms but all the links are broken.

    Applying for the DE SBGG took months because the rules didn’t understand the specific situation (the lovely lady at the Standesamt who was dealing with elodie was dogged in her determination tho 💕)

    Fuck 😿

        @Elodie_lyra I've never had to deal with it (never even been to the UK), but I recall reading a while back about changes to the overseas route to restrict which territories the UK govt would accept documentation from to get a GRC. I wonder if that has anything to do with the problem you're having.

        It was of interest to me specifically because the UK decided they wouldn't accept documentation from Australian states which allow self-id.

        This page is relevant:

          @kodiacbear

          It may well be, as the UK Government has been insistent that it will not accept any form of self determination for obtaining a GRC.

            @kodiacbear

            I have checked for the overseas route and:

            You need a GRC or similar
            An updated Birth Certificate
            A court order
            An entry in a legal register

            Germany is still on the approved list, however, how can a British Citizen using the overseas route, which requires an updated birth certificate, given that changing a UK issued birth certificate requires a UK GRC!?
