I love when an album cover is as artistic as the music it represents.
-
@harmonycorrupted that's a pretty one, for sure
Not familiar with the artist, but I'll check out their work (starting with their debut
)@smutgeist I wish I could put it on the wall, I'm such a sucker for gothic aesthetics! And niiiiceπ₯Ή The debut just honestly has more consistently good songs imo!

@harmonycorrupted
Very nice album like it very much
Favorite song "and when he Falleth"
@smutgeist -
@mioontje listened today. Enjoyable black metal record, thanks for the rec

-
@smutgeist I had massive trouble picking just one but decided to choose my long time favorite cover art
Not my favorite album of theirs (I prefer the debut) but it's still a banger!!CW: nudity

@harmonycorrupted listened to both records (Theatre of Tragedy and Velvet Darkness They Fear) today, and I enjoyed both a great deal. I'll be checking out the rest of Theatre of Tragedy's discography in the coming weeks and months. Thanks for the rec!

@smutgeist omg fantastic!! I'm so glad you liked those! I have say I haven't listened past AΓ©gis myself

-
@smutgeist same!! I love the Kylesa and Skeletonwitch ones he did too! I've been to one of his exhibitions at a tattoo parlor a million years ago!
@harmonycorrupted listened to both Static Tensions by Kylesa and Serpents Unleashed by Skeletonwitch, enjoyed both
I think I liked Static Tensions more, so I'll go through Kylesa's discography before I get to Skeletonwitch's, but I'll definitely be checking out both. Thanks for the rec! -

Thanks for the rec!@smutgeist yeah Skeletonwitch are fun but admittedly pretty samey in their modern thrashiness (kinda like Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust or like Vektor...). I do prefer Kylesa by a lot like you do because of their grooviness etc

@harmonycorrupted I'm always happy to discover cool new (to me) tunes, so that works out well π«Ά
I listen to a fuck-ton of new (to me) music almost daily, and I enjoy discovering gems on my own, but discovery through a human connection is always more meaningful. So I get it! I like turning people on to cool new tunes, too

@harmonycorrupted know Rivers of Nihil? If you know of any other bands that work non-traditional instruments into metal, like the sax
in Rivers of Nihil, I'd love to hear 'em -

@smutgeist me too, it always feels truly special and I love that no matter how much good stuff you know, there's always more out there to discover and expand your mind!
not to mention people turning each other onto things they might not have found by themselves! -

In my defense, I was discovering so much new stuff back then that I lacked time to process everything properly
I'll definitely go take a proper listen now!

in Rivers of Nihil, I'd love to hear 'em@smutgeist you've opened up Pandora's box cause I've just written down a whole ass list of bands and now I can't decide which ones to limit myself to

Now I wanna write an article about avant garde metal

@smutgeist my pleasure, I admit to loving a chance to nerd out about avant-garde metalπ«£
I'm always trying to find bands that cross over genres but aren't like... soulless/overly nihilistic or nazi. Honestly still flabbergasted at how many nazis there are in this niche fucking genre

@harmonycorrupted gods, yeah, can't tell you how many times I've found a new metal group whose sound I dig, then heard a lyric that made me do a double-take and start searching to see if said group is on any lists of known white supremacist bands. Fuck them nazis π€¬

@harmonycorrupted I notice Candiria isn't on your list. Considering your metal repertoire, I'd be surprised if you don't know them, but on the off chance you don't, I highly recommend a listen. Also, have you heard Between the Buried and Me's latest? Quite unlike the other entries in their discography. I felt they were channeling a little Mr. Bungle for this new one. Like it lots

Which album(s) of theirs do you like the most?@harmonycorrupted The C.O.M.A. Imprint is their best, IMO, followed by 300 Percent Density. Their sound changed quite a bit on What Doesn't Kill You... and subsequent records. Candiria fans I know hated the change, but I like both sounds
β
οΈ(Interesting trivia: the wrecked van on the cover of What Doesn't Kill You... is the band's tour van after their close call with death while touring for The C.O.M.A. Imprint)

Which album(s) of theirs do you like the most?@harmonycorrupted ah, shit, I confess to having lost my way in this conversation. Not sure if you were asking about Candiria or Rivers of Nihil
The C.O.M.A. Imprint for the former, Where Owls Know My Name for the latter
