You REALLY should remove the tracking codes from Youtube links now.
They started showing a popup about who sent the link and offering a (maybe new) DM feature, potentially revealing your personal account name to anyone who opens the link.

1. Don't use facebook
2. Don't log in on YouTube if sharing.@raymaccarthy @barryallen2023 @joknopp @aesthr
Agree on the "no FB" in theory. All my
content save 6 neutral posts 5 non-face photos are gone. But small town living = In practice, everyone coordinates school, small biz, kid sports, etc. on FB.Cue meme of The Grinch: Hate, hate, detest, LOATHE.
May Zuck get a nice case of itchy crabs for playing the long game to force that nonsense. -

@aesthr
YouTube is evil incarnate if you take the time to look at it.

@aesthr it's the same with Spotify. They used this to create chat history back to 2021 for me.

@aesthr thankfully I’ve been in the habit of doing that to every YouTube. I post here..
There are two ways ago about it the way you suggest of removing everything from the question mark to the right.
You can copy the share link and then actually post it in a browser tab to get rid of the nonsense, or you can just copy the link from the search bar
-
@aesthr What New, Fresh Hell is this?
Oh, they just took a step further from the tracking link and now making it obviously awful.
At some point, I might just go straight back to copying from the search bar, even though I use extensively a temporary playlist to curate what I watch from what I noticed I want to watch.
I think in some ways this is how I keep the algorithm a little bit more my bitch

@aesthr Delete everything after the question mark.
Other sites do the same. When I used Instagram, I would trim that crap off as well.

@aesthr wellp, I had a feeling something like this was coming

if you’re on an Apple device, you can use this shortcut that does it automatically for most popular platforms:
i’m sure a similar thing exists on android but I don’t have a non-ancient android device.
