I was not an OG fan, I had to grow up before I could appreciate their approach, but what sort of a Not The Pixies could possibly have anyone else on Bass?

Kim was not kicked out of the Pixies in the 90s. Charles just ended it. The Fax story is common and still told today in recent interviews.

which allowed Kim to focus on The Breeders and Charles his solo albums. Both had benefited greatly.

Having watched a lot of Pixies docos & listened to both bands, I think #TheBreeders doubled the great music of that era.
