    Turns out that GPU Autocomplete as a Service works a lot like regular autocomplete:

    • It works better if it has more samples of what people actually type -- the two edged sword of user benefit and privacy concerns, and

    • If you don't check if it's right before you hit send ... that's on you.

      • If you don't check if it's right before you hit send ... that's on you.

      @tychotithonus I'm inclined to say a significant amount of the problem is "on" the people who sold GPU-autocomplete-as-a-service explicitly marketed as if it were something more than that.

      (I do think blame goes *also* on the user, but I don't think the mistake was failure to check it; I think the mistake was ever deciding in the first place to use a product which is sometimes wrong *and designed to make you feel you don't need to check it*)
