@HailsandAles I honestly thought GDPR put paid to that. First it was the Absolutely Necessary Covid Emails, now it's a free for all

@HailsandAles omg, fucking Sephora. I buy one thing of makeup, and get 11 emails the same day, followed by 1 per day since.
I've unsubscribed from *every* one, and yet..

@alice@lgbtqia.space @HailsandAles@metalhead.club I've made a habit of reporting anyone who signs me up for spam without my consent to the Canadian anti-spam legislation violation list. It usually gets me unsubscribed pretty fast.

@HailsandAles I have a domain name with a catch-all mailbox. I give each service a unique email address on this domain. When a service abuses the email, or is breached, I send the whole email address to spam

@HailsandAles Pro tip -- Many email services let you use a sub account with a "+" mark (some use a period instead). For example: shdwdrgn+amazon@mymail.xxx. The emails will still arrive in your mailbox if you need to receive some specific detail like an access key, but now you can see who sold your information, and you can tell your email program to block this specific address as spam without losing your entire mailbox.

I strongly recommend email aliasing like https://simplelogin.com or https://addy.io basically an email address that forwards to you main inbox but you can disable it any time. So one alias per shop, only enable when you expect an important email from that shop.

If I do that how in the world will I get my breach notifications? -

For simplelogin, use proton pass (by the same company). They are heavily integrated and proton pass gives breach notifications for all of your aliases.
