    Ok vintage ISP technical nerds from the 1990’s.

    For those who worked in the ISP industry from 1990 through 1999, which dialup terminal server brand did you prefer?

      @HopelessDemigod Cisco AS something, it was way more configurable than USR Total Control. A bunch of routing protocols to choose from and overall less of a black box like the USR was.

          @HopelessDemigod we had a large pool, a few thousand lines around 1999. Also, a few Sun servers for authentication, billing, and web services.

                @tinmouth

                I thought that was strange as they were widely deployed by many Minnesota ISP’s during that era. It was the go to unit.

                  @HopelessDemigod they ripped the USR total controls and replaced them with ascend in UUNET UK, but I thought the USRs were cool so I'm downbeat on the ascends 😂😂

                    @HopelessDemigod Also not remotely enough flashy leds and funky tiny displays. Screw boring Ascends 😂😂
