A rough cut, freehand with disk grinder.

So I did a filing with a medium file, then a diamond file, then some 80 grit paper to smooth it out, decent results. I may cut more of the opening out to hold the rope better on pulling but this is workable.
I got a magic ring 6 done, working on the 2nd round with increases. This is very hard though and glad I am using this steel punch now! LOL It is ridiculous, but fun. #crochet #poppintags

@kokorins 3/8 rope, its turning out over an inch thick in total I think. My squirrwl brain is conceptualizing a seat I can suspend from a tree now...

The hook has been finish sanded sufficient for "production", I mean it was fine, but now it looks pretty. It is also HEAVY. I love this very thick and tactile form of knotting up the place. I make these with tool steel punches from Harbor Freight. The same principles could be applied to bamboo, aluminum rod, etc, but thes are built for me, and I have proven to be a bit hard on my hooks. One of my spawn banned me from borrowing theirs...

@kerravonsen I want to get to that maybe, but currently this lark will be a seat cover due to amounts. If I find a 500' spool on sale, maybe that or a yard swing.

Completed!! I saw that I was running out of rope, so it became a decorative nautilus shell. Using the tool steel hook was imperative for this rope, it is stiff and tough to work unless you have a stout one, even if you preplan your loops a bit.
I was a bit surprised how much rope this eats up, but totally worth it. I love the end shape, it may go on a wall or something.
fibers are normally more plush or squishy.
