          @mttaggart old control frameworks had a check that production servers should not have compilers; on a locked down system like that I could see scenarios where this might even be useful to an attacker

              @mttaggart years ago I wrote a sql database in php for the same reason; university sun server with ancient php version wouldn't allow students to install or use a 'real' database. I think it still lives on PEAR
