May I bring you attention to these? I came across articles that rumors about Windows 12 releasing this year are exaggerated and false.

Turns out that the rumors that Windows 12 will come this year are greatly exaggerated and false. https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows-11/no-an-ai-focused-windows-12-is-not-coming-this-year-false-report-gets-the-facts-completely-wrong https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/no-of-course-windows-12-wont-require-a-subscription-to-use https://hothardware.com/news/windows-12-is-not-likely-to-launch-in-2026-despite-viral-ai-claims #microsoft

@NovemDecimal Interesting. So far we had romoured claims, rumoured disclaimers and nothing official from Microslop.

The release date is the least of the concerns and the rest just sounds like something Microslop would (and still might) do.

The 2nd article is from 2023 and only says that Windows "will not need subscription to *use* it". Nothing about "subscriptions for extra features" πŸ™‚

Let's wait and see. Makes really no difference to me as I made a vow to never install Windows again 🐧

@post_reader Sorry that I say it: Unfortunately, it's too much tech language for ordinary people.

It can help to write texts in cooperation with absolutely non-techie people who are experienced in education. If school kids understand a text, unexperienced adults will, too.

I think I covered the basic problems in more accessible style.
Gems for linux community are of course included.

Same here, and to disable all things Copilot.
Some HAVE TO use Windows. It's not like they have the choice if their work depends on it.

                  Depending on Ai,
                  expensive new hardware,
subscription-based OS (it will come for full OS, I don't doubt it),
depending on hardware that is hogged by developers so we pay through our noses:
This all creates an elite of those who can afford it, and an interesting alternative stream of pitchforks is in the making as well.

@3dpng @jonsnow That pattern ended nearly 20 years ago, when Windows 7 was their last good release. The pattern starting with XP has been good-bad-good-humiliating-bad-wtaf and now here we are looking at adding "omfg" to the list.

I'm fortunate enough to have a lifetime of skills that enabled me to jump into a lifeboat and sail far from this unholy, sloppy, Orwellian mess.
