Think about it in the context of every startup you’ve heard about in the last decade

Scratch that, every startup I can even remember:

Intel: Fairchild Semiconductor is a hassle
        Microsoft: UNIX is a hassle
        Apple: Keyboards are a hassle
Mozilla: NCSA Mosaic is a hassle
Yahoo: Finding stuff is a hassle
Google: Yahoo is a hassle (and also libraries)
Amazon: Going to the store is a hassle (and also buying computers)
Facebook: Rating people is a hassle (and also eroding democracy)
        Netflix: Blockbuster is a hassle
Uber: Driving is a hassle (and also paying people)
Airbnb: Hotels are a hassle (and also renting)
AI: Having a job is a hassle (and also creativity)
SpaceX: Living on Earth is a hassle

                @darkuncle

solving a problem more easily and/or more cheaply than existing solutions is something you can sell. the issue with many startups is their assumptions of what are legit problems and reasonable solutions, along with who is the target audience for the solution. errors in those assumptions is the root of most of the waste (and evil) in those startups.

@paul_ipv6 see this is true but also much less amusing than "everything is an attempt to avoid being hassled"

@paul_ipv6 I am already seeing replies and quotes on this that completely miss the humor over on Bluesky and it occurs to me I should just remove that bridge; I don't think it's adding any value.

@darkuncle True. And more often than not, we’re trying to avoid a hassle created by the modern economy.

It’s like the old woman who swallowed the fly because it was a good investment opportunity.
