I’d only ever run to Hopper’s Hands from Chrissy Field but there was plenty of parking if you drive out.
To get there, take Marine Drive until it dead ends at the Fort Point National Historic Site, or walk down the winding Battery East Trail from the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center.

Today I learned there’s sites to track shipping vessels, because, of course there is.

@nuthatch It sure is, and it's a pretty neat spot.
The lighthouse on the other end of the bridge is better though, and if you get there the normal way you go through two very cool tunnels.

@croyle that may be true, but statistically speaking Point Bonita is never open lol

@nuthatch Doh! It was open the last time I was there but it was probably two decades ago... And we probably got lucky.

@octothorpe they move surprisingly quickly! We saw it on the horizon at Ocean Beach and it was docked in Oakland by time we returned home. I mean, of course they are, but damn they’re big and… they’re booking

@nuthatch Good luck, it's a fun little tunnel and the walkway to the lighthouse it pretty neat too.

It was a good day for a sail (or, to be honest, a good day to watch the racing sailors from shore.)
