We still don't have a date for house move but we can expect it to be in the next few weeks. So we've been looking at fridges and my question is

WHY THE FUCK WOULD A FRIDGE NEED A WIFI CONNECTION

Oh, so I can conveniently change the temperature of my fridge on my phone while I'm out and about?

I can't tell you how many times I've been at work and thought oh fuck, I forgot to turn the fridge down! Again! Oh wait. Yes, I can.

Agreed. Only slightly less helpful than Wi-Fi enabled laundry. You'd think, well maybe it can simplify reordering filters! Nope. That function is on a timer. Does not have anything to do with the real usage of the filter.

With laundry, it seems like it may have some utility... But then you start using it and discover how nerfed it is.

It's only good for notifications.

They set it up with a "remote start" feature that can't be used until you manually enable it. Every single time. And it only stays enabled for ~15 minutes.

But at least it tells me when the wash is done.
