    Data governance has a brand problem. For many people it still screams control, cost, and “blocker” – exactly the opposite of what we’re actually trying to achieve.

    If we want leaders and teams to care, we need to stop selling “governance” and start talking about trust, usable data, and safe, confident decision-making in the age of AI. Data governance should feel like enablement: making it easier to find, understand, and use data well – not a mysterious compliance tax you pay at the end.

    I’ve shared some thoughts on why data governance needs a rebrand, and how we can reposition it as a core part of modern data and AI capability, not a dusty afterthought.
