    im pretty sure ive never actually PAID azure for anything. I got some 'startup credit' something something like 5 years ago for signing up with my phobos email and saying we were a startup below a certain size..

    but if ms is sending these "HEY MAKE SURE YOUR PAYMENT SHIT IS CURRENT" emails to people who havent interacted with the shit in like five years ...

    i dunno, something smells

      @Viss That's almost guaranteed to be a "Hey something is wrong with our forecast - this AI stuff was supposed to basically print money for us. Maybe we can shake the bushes a bit and see if there are users that kicked the Azure tires back in the day that might come back on board, or just mindlessly give us money because we remind them to?"

        @Viss

        Worse yet:

        Hey, you owe us $20/mo maintenance fees on those free credits we gave you 5 years ago.

        Now that AI tokens are currency now

              @Viss

              Give it time. cloud providers that need to recover spend, will come up with bullshit overdraft fees and shit.
