    "New York’s LaGuardia Airport was closed for hours after Air Canada Express Flight 8646 collided with a fire truck while landing Sunday night around 11:40 p.m. local time.

    The pilot and copilot were killed.

    41 passengers and crew were taken to the hospital.

    The jet collided with the Port Authority fire truck on a runway at 104 miles per hour.

    Air traffic control had cleared both to be on the runway."

      @AkaSci So apparently only a single controller was on duty.
      Trump did that ☝️

          For context, the fire truck was responding, under guidance from ATC, to a United 737 Max aircraft which had aborted two takeoffs, declared an emergency and requested fire trucks due to a strange odor that was making the flight attendants sick.

          The flight controller tried to fix the mistake by sending orders to the truck to stop, but apparently, the initial part of the command was sent on the wrong frequency between the Ground and Tower radio channels.

          Tragic 😢

            This map of the runways at LaGuardia Airport shows the locations of the fire station and the United Airlines flight 2384 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, and the Canada Express Flight 8646 aircraft landing on the runway between the two.

              Adam Kinzinger summarizes the likely deeper cause of this tragedy - the callous ineptness of this administration, rather than the mistake of the air traffic controller who was handling two simultaneous emergencies late at night.

              Unfortunately, in this admin, dept. after dept. and agency after agency are good at creating chaos, not solving problems.

                @AkaSci

                Sean Duffy is claiming there was more than one ATC in the tower when the Air Canada flight hit that firetruck. Let's see how well that claim ages.
