    @hacks4pancakes Congrats! Was it something your doctor is AUS did, or did it resolve on its own after you moved? Know some other people with thyroid issues

              @kauer @hacks4pancakes normal table salt out here *(in usa) typically does, but you can also easily purchase kosher or sea salt that does not.
              A fuckton of salt is present in our prepared foods, like deli meats, frozen stirfry meals, snack foods, etc.. Nutrition facts don't state if the salt is iodized or not.

                  @hacks4pancakes since I've had major health concerns with CKD, I've noticed that there is a lot of shit in our food that is bad for us, but not bad enough to where the FDA won't allow it.

                  Technically speaking, you are only supposed to get a maximum of 2300mg of sodium per day as a daily recommended value. If I have a can of condensed chicken noodle soup, its just over 2000mg of sodium alone! THAT DOESNT EVEN INCLUDE SALTINES IF YOU WANTED THEM.

                  Its like that with EVERY DAMN THING, unless you specifically hunt for no salt added variants, or turn Amish and just make it yourself.

                    @hacks4pancakes I can't speak for your experiences, but like, they consider bread made in sub shops in the states to be more cake than bread because of the sugar content. Many European countries do not allow artificial food coloring because they are carcinogenic.

                    Dear friend, I am glad you escaped, and your health is improving. Be well. In the meanwhile, its the Amish life for me.

                          Reminds me of when I lived in mountain view, CA. After a bit of living there, my gut was EXTREMELY unhappy. I started to binary search my diet. Lo and behold, I started running all of my water in my apartment (yes, even cooking water) through a filter and I was cured. It didn't affect my apartment-mates or friends, just me. So weird. I had confirmation when I accidentally drank tap water at a friend's place and the symptoms came back.

                          Something in the water out there just hit me wrong.

                          @twodarek @mike @mwl @hacks4pancakes I found the farty German in-laws post, and it's INCREDIBLE. So much better than I remembered: https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/comments/1b4g2uz/why_do_my_husband_and_i_experience_severe/

                          I was wrong about the distance (only 40-45 min by car), but the OP is an *amazing* writer. "Guys, I am not only flatulent, but also flattered and somewhat flabbergasted."

                                @mike @mwl @hacks4pancakes There was a really interesting reddit thread awhile back where a German couple tried to determine why they always got incredible flatulence when visiting in-laws. IIRC, they eventually concluded that the water interacted weirdly with their gut flora! But they tested a TON of different ideas.

                                There was a whole plot twist where they thought it didn't affect their kids... but the kids were just staying quiet while the parents debated it on the multi-hour drive home 😆

                                @alexglow @mike @mwl @hacks4pancakes it’s more probable that this is due to the relatively high amount of either esp. rye or full-grain in the bread. Adult have a different set of bacteria in the bowels so that children are affecfar less from that.

                                  @hacks4pancakes @Hasufin Hashimoto as a chronic inflammatory desease has different phases, starting hyperthyroidic, then eu(=normal)thyreodic and later hypothyroidic with need for external hormones. When in the hypothyroid phase it could accur that there are autonomous areas that start producing hormons esp when external
                                  iod (like in jodized salt) is ingested. Ultrasound and szintigraphie recommended to look if such areas are present
