@grumpasaurus As a DM who puts a lot of effort in preparing custom campaigns, I am sad to read this.
But as a human who likes wings, I understand. -

For my money, I've found that other companies' games are often better at D&D than D&D. Pathfinder, 13th Age, Castles & Crusades, Lite Fantasy RPG., for example.
