@bicmay These people are MORONS, as god is my witness. SOME OF US LIVED THROUGH measles epidemics of previous years. You could have asked us. We were certainly speaking up loudly. DOCTORS were warning you. You could have listened to them. But YOU wanted to stick UV light up your asses, and now you're surprised you're, what, suffering, becoming disabled, dying? THAT'S WHAT VACCINES PREVENT, you lunatics.

@thepoliticalcat @bicmay Exactly this! I mean, GenX is right here! We lived through this. Sometimes I just feel like an ancient crone standing on a mountain yelling I told you! You didn’t believe! Why didn’t you believe? Well, too late now, boils and misery for you.

@MissConstrue @bicmay I had measles as a kid, and my Mom locked me in the bedroom and turned off all the lights and drew the blinds because she was afraid I would lose my vision. I know I warned EVERYBODY I knew when this epidemic broke out to vaccinate as soon as they could. They just don't listen.

“A number of them clearly said if they had known, they would have vaccinated themselves and their children against measles, but they didn’t realize how bad it was,” Nolen said.

It's so bad humans invented a vaccine against it.

You'd think that would be an indication.

@mossyrua @bicmay Sounds like it, which is bullshit. I have known about measles and vaccines since kindergarten. Well, FAFO I guess.

🤷🏽‍♀️ Social media platforms and their algorithms can put people in bubbles. Some of those Texas families whose kids died from measles didn't want to vaccinate their other kids afterwards.

@bicmay @inquiline About 12 years ago, at an info session for my child's preschool, the question of measles vaccines came up. "It's not, like, *Ebola*," said the school's director, who was old enough to remember polio and should have known better.

I approached her privately after the session was over, and politely mentioned that Ebola's total mortality was in the tens of thousands, while measles has killed millions. She bluntly refused to process this information.

Vaccinating your remaining kids, after losing one, would be an admission that your decision to not vaccinate that child was responsible for their death. @bicmay @thriftwicker @mossyrua

@mossyrua @bicmay That’s the language they’ll use, because they lack both the personal awareness and self-critical honesty it takes to say “I devalued all the voices telling me that I was wrong and now I’m angry that these same voices weren’t able to convince me because I want it to be someone else’s fault”.

                              The underlying problem remains.

@bicmay They don’t understand it because it’s been eradicated for many years. My sister had it. It destroys your immune system so at the same time she got the mumps and chickenpox, and I think it really did terrible things to her mind and body. I remember how bad it was. I was able to be vaccinated before I could get it.
