Backing up data from #TrueNAS sucks. On Synology, there is HyperBackup and it supports most BackupTargets you could imagine, retention, etc.
On TrueNAS, there's one hard coded cloud vendor (Storj) I've never heard of and you have to use.
Under the hood, the TrueCloud Backup seems to be restic over a S3-interface, so ix-systems is intentionally keeping users from using their preferred provider.
