it's irritating that websites are all "please enable ads to continue”
like, I have no problem with ads (of the type @ifixcoinops hosts; glorious hand-crafted banner ads for all kinds of niche stuff circa 1999), I have a problem with SURVEILLANCE and when websites today say “please enable ads" what they really mean is "please enable surveillance by adtech tracking platforms so we can create a profile of you and sell it”
Nope.

@darkuncle @ifixcoinops Demands for signups are at least as bad. I've had to learn a lot of workarounds, and never read news on a phone because the workarounds require a PC.
Any time the site shows you the article and then blocks it when you try to scroll (this enrages me, doesn't it make everyone hate the site?) reload, CTRL-A CTRL-C, switch to a word processor, and paste. You can usually read the text that way.
