"Eh!" is a Canadian social network that is apparently based on Vancouver Island. User data stays within Canada. Founding team seems solid. It's intriguing, but it has some marks against it that mean I probably won't sign up:
1. Seems to be a traditional corporation, rather than a BCorp/co-op/non-profit
2. Isn't federated
3. Currently requires an app, so isn't even web-based (Even though the app is probably using web views ...)I'm just not interested in that, eh?
I wish them success, though.

If you happen to be less grumpy than me about those sorts of things (and many people are, even here!), you can check out their site at https://ehnow.ca

Oh! Web access is now available, but an account is required. That's something, I guess.

@kboyd ya I've checked them out too, but declined on the same grounds.

@chris I might take the same approach I've taken with bluesky, where I sample it by creating an account for the Sailing Co-Op I'm part of. @SookeSailingCoop / @sookesailingcoop.bsky.social

@kboyd I am super glad for the effort, it just seems like they are replicating Mastodon by hand.
