I admit that I tend to zone out anytime I see Nvidia, but based on the toots I've seen this week, it sounds like they rolled out that weird soap opera motion smoothing that everyone hates on TVs but they thought was a good idea for computers.

Is that right? Can I go back to ignoring it now? Because that sounds really stupid and on par for Nvidia these days.
@cR0w
yes, but also they added a yassification filter that turns every female video game character into a version wearing makeup. and that part is not a joke. -

@cR0w yep https://thever.ge/CxDL
if i were a game dev and nvidia just paratrooped in and was like *i'll make your characters and game look however i want, thanks* i'd be pissed

@0x00string How do their hype cycles keep getting worse and yet more popular?

@cR0w idk, credit is drying up though, hopefully this will all come crumbling down soon and theyll go back to making video cards for computers instead of buying all the ram for a lifetime

@r0k I don't get why people would even want or use that "feature."

@cR0w it's way worse. It's a neural network that makes video games look like AI slop, even in stills. It completely changes how everything looks, especially faces

@0x00string Is their datacenter stuff usable by normal users for things like video games and password cracking or are they pretty specific for AI shit? Like if it all crashes, will the market get flooded with used kit people can use?

@tarix29 I hate tech so much. So gross.

@cR0w @0x00string I think there may be some of that
But also I don’t know if there will be a lot of it. Those designs are …. not a casual gpu to slot into a side-desk shitbox, and it’ll limit how many can engage with it (even when they have silicon-fitting problems)

@cR0w afaik the datacenter chips are not consumer usable in any meaningful way
