    you know how Windows XP let you go back to traditional Win9x/NT style widgets? why did Apple not let us do that with OS X and go back to NeXT style menus and titlebars and widgets. that's literally all i want

        @xan I recently tried unsuccessfully to get olwm to work again since I miss the cute corner decorations and push pins.

              @xan @atax1a i think even going into 10.0.x if you found and deleted the Aqua rsrc bundle it could fall back to Platinum look, for both Cocoa and Carbon widgets

              to this day Cocoa still has traces of the alt styles if you explicitly ask for them, though they look completely broken of course

                @joe @atax1a the thing I'm thinking of in particular is Configure.app on Rhapsody DR2; I'm assuming that's because it was running setuid root
