@0xabad1dea when German employers throw pizza parties, they still pretend two slices per person is a normal amount
@0xabad1dea or maybe i've only worked for cheapskates

To clear up a mutual point of confusion:
To the USA: most other countries don’t sell pizza by the slice because their whole pizzas are all personal sized
To others, especially Europe: Americans sell and request pizza by the slice because the typical American whole pizza is over twice the size of a European one and is meant to be shared by the whole table
@0xabad1dea also domino's is actually good here

@0xabad1dea In Norway we have both sizes. Which is great when you think you're ordering 18 pizzas of the Italian size to a group of 18, but get enough pizza for 50.

@0xabad1dea And here's a weird one: New York Pizza B.V.? Does _both_. They sell 25cm pies for Euros, and they also sell ginormous slices for the tourists and expats...
Personally, I've _always_ liked the 25cm pies better. Way before I even had a passport. More good gooey yummy centre-ness.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Italy also has a bonus extra option of take away pizza 'by the cut' (al taglio) which you order by weight - often in hectogram units. So you order 'tre etti' (three hundred grams) and the guy cuts a slice of the right size off a huge rectangular pizza, generally by eye, and generally very accurately. Great for much confusion in shops not used to dealing with tourists. Also genuinely convenient for ordering the amount of food you actually want/need.

@0xabad1dea Which is a shame, because I like being able to get pizza by the slice, and thus far have only come across two or three situations where that was a thing here. One of them was a shop down the road from where I work, and was a nice little payday treat, but they shut down last month

@0xabad1dea that clearly change the meaning of "no meeting you can't feed with two pizza".
Also yeah, a new york style pizzeria opened down the street and I was confused by the price until I ordered a slice -

@0xabad1dea
Here in Denmark, we can buy pizza by the slice. One slice is one 8th of a family sized pizza, which is intended for four people, so half the size of a regular pizza. -

@0xabad1dea large pizza to share is the default in Argentina as well, slices are super common, small pizzas exist but are the least popular option. I think the Europeans might be the odd ones with this??

@0xabad1dea huh, you can get pizza by the slice in Romania at corner shop-type places, and in most of those the slices are "normal big pizza size" (i.e. if you were to get the full pizza, it'd be somewhere between 700g and 1 kilo), though I did find one place where the pizza slices were a Lot bigger

@0xabad1dea I recently ate a whole pizza because it was cheaper than half a pizza.
In chicago, but new york style pizza. No one actually eats deep dish.

@0xabad1dea Conspiracy theory: This is intentional because it trains the youth to engage in negotiations around style and toppings, to prepare them for Capitalism.

In the UK, the sizes range from 9" to 24". A place near where I grew up (which is still open!) sold 'dustbin lid' pizzas (16"), which were normally for the table, but if someone managed to eat a whole one then it would get their picture on the wall.
A bunch of take-away places sell pizza by the slice, typically from a 15" or larger pizza.
The places I've been in the US have been very similar.
