They custom built their own platform in the mid 90s. And so can probably never move off it, because everything would break.
But, that also means its pre-fancy and entirely functional.

@shaknais yeh, it's probably not awesome, but not Compass bad
-
@chozari It's really not hard. Spend 30 minutes with a parent, and you'll figure it out
-
@sortius
Secret 5th thing: why am I getting an SMS and a compass push notification and an email about the compass post???

-
@sortius I'm just happy I don't have to use Compass anymore.
It felt to me like someone took an old version of SharePoint (maybe 2010?) and then somehow made it even worse.

@Standard_Phil I will not have Sharepoint sullied like that!
It's a wonderful piece of software that every idiot thinks it can do more than it does... oh, I see where you're coming from

I have many memories from the early 2000s of fighting with SharePoint. Unusually for Microsoft, I think this product's capabilities were slightly overstated by the marketing team....

@Standard_Phil "slightly" is doing heavy lifting there. Where it was suited, it worked so well. Outside that, it was a shitshow. I dealt with both

-
@smithb I like your wife.
There's a handful of teachers who still use it, and send weird, non-clarified, messages about my kids' performance.
I have no idea who it is, so I just ignore the emails

@sortius Yeah, we had a very effective document management workflow in SharePoint in maybe 2005, it was excellent.
We also migrated all the file servers into a per-team file store with no folder hierarchy (thousands of files in each team's share), because "the search capabilities are so good now, you don't need folders to organise your data anymore!".
That one was less than optimal. -
@jpm I hate the "Reminder:" emails. This is the fucking first I've heard of it, how the fuck is it a reminder?
