My son and I finally built a #Linux server to be used by our family as a media server. We used #Ubuntu because that's what I'm familiar with. We used raid 1 with 2 10TB hard drives and have a 1TB ssd for the OS. It took us one long afternoon to complete and the server synced the raid overnight.

Now I need to select media sharing and syncing software. Any recommendations are welcome. I prefer open source and will need apps for Linux desktop, Windows, and Android.

Also any hints on optimizing and protecting the server is welcome.

@old_hippie I recommend looking at Jellyfin, has all the applicable clients and is OS to boot.
